Hero’s shave it off for cancer

Called Hero’s Shave It Off, the event will run at Scarlet Studio and Artisan Market July 11

To Lindsay James, Melissa Gobbett is a hero.

Gobbett, a Vernon wife and mother of two young boys, has been battling a cancerous brain tumour since she was diagnosed in late 2013.

James, owner of the Scarlet Studio and Artisan Market on 30th Avenue in Vernon, is putting on a fundraiser in honour of Gobbett.

Called Hero’s Shave It Off, the event will run at Scarlet Studio and Artisan Market July 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“All proceeds will be going to the Canadian Cancer Society for brain cancer,” said James.

You can nominate a teacher, firefighter, paramedic, police officer, teacher or anyone you deem a local hero for $20 to shave off their hair for cancer by posting a picture of them on the Scarlet Studio’s Facebook page and why you’re nominating them.

“Or you can be a true hero and volunteer yourself,” said James.

Gobbett will be on hand to do a few shaves herself.

Please include a full name and phone number of the nominee.

Nominations can be made at www.facebook.com/thescarletstudio.
