A fundraiser that ensures state-of-the-art equipment at Vernon Jubilee Hospital is experiencing challenges.
The annual Light A Bulb campaign has reached the halfway mark, or $100,000 of its $200,000 goal.
“The campaign is behind based on last year’s numbers”, said Kevin Arbuckle, campaign co-chairperson.
“With only a few days left until Christmas, we have $100,000 left to raise to meet our $200,000 goal. Please remember that any gift big or small will make a difference to the quality of health care in the North Okanagan.”
Light A Bulb proceeds are going towards two post-anaesthetic recovery monitors and an ENT navigation system for the surgical unit.
The ENT navigation system was selected as one of the campaign items this year because sinusitis affects 10 per cent of the population on an annual basis.
The campaign recently received a boost with a $1,200 donation from National Bank Financial.
National Bank is challenging other financial institutions to match its contribution.
“We, at National Bank Financial, realize the importance of supporting our community hospital and urge other financial agencies in the North Okanagan to follow suit”, said Sherman Dahl, Vernon branch manager.
A $35 tax deductible donation will light one bulb on the tree located on the roof of VJH while $500 will light an entire string of lights.
“Please help the VJH Foundation light the trees atop the hospital and let the spirit of generosity shine this holiday season,” said Gloria Morgan, Light A Bulb co-chairperson.
