It’s the end of an era for a downtown Vernon tradition.

Baron Insurance Broker Group is closing its 30th Avenue office as Dave and Ruth Hoyte say goodbye after 42 years in the insurance business.

“We would like to thank our staff over the many years for their loyal support, and we thank our clients for entrusting their insurance needs to us,” said Dave Hoyte, a former director of Baron Insurance.

The Hoytes will pursue new opportunities.

“I wish Dave and Ruth well and thank them both for their service,” said Barry Amies, Baron president.

Dave Hoyte’s family started A.E. Berry Insurance more than 124 years ago, and A.E. Berry joined Baron Insurance in 2014.

The Hoytes’ son Robbie will continue at Baron’s Landing Plaza branch.

Robbie Hoyte will be transitioning to this location in January along with long-time employee, Gloria Fedick.  Kristina Hall will be joining the Anderson Way team.
