Thousands of marches and rallies took place all over the world Sept. 21 for People’s Climate, including a student-led rally in Vernon

Thousands of marches and rallies took place all over the world Sept. 21 for People’s Climate, an event to raise awareness about climate change. Vernon’s gathering was organized by one involved student.

Graham Garner attends Kalamalka Secondary and organized the rally with the Students Without Borders program.

“We watched a video called Disruption one day  about rallies around the world, and I thought, why not make one of our own?” said Garner.

Vernon’s rally started at the courthouse where 105 people dressed up and brought signs trying to deliver a message. They moved down to Justice Park for speeches for the public.

More than 2,000 People’s Climate events took place last Sunday in 150 countries. The biggest was held in New York City where 100,000 people came together.
