Norman Kreutz’s passion is teaching people how to ski and now that’s been recognized nationally.

Kreutz was recently inducted into the Canadian Ski Instructors Hall of Fame.

“I have always strived to be the best that I can be through example and with humility,” said Kreutz, snow sports school director at Silver Star Mountain Resort.

“Hopefully I have instilled some of those traits in the people that I have touched through the years. The Canadian Ski Instructors Association is steeped in history and I am honoured to be part of this select group of hall of famers.”

Kreutz joins Guy Paulsen as the second Silver Star hall of fame inductee.

“We were thrilled when we heard about Norman’s award,” said Moragh MacAulay, Silver Star media co-ordinator.

“His absolute dedication to winter sports and teaching excellence are an inspiration to everyone at Silver Star and the 25,000-plus coaches and instructors who make up the CSIA organization.”

He worked for the CSIA as the western program director from 1988 to 2002, where he shaped both ski technique and teaching methodology for the organization and the ski industry as a whole.

He has also represented Canada at international ski events in Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and North America.

The Thunder Bay, Ont. native has been associated with Silver Star for more than 30 years.

“Skiing is a lifelong sport and I hope to be able to continue to pass on my passion for the sport as long as I can strap on the boards,” said Kreutz.
