Residents from throughout the North Okanagan can learn more about Lumby and what it has to offer.

The Lumby and District Showcase takes place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Pat Duke Memorial Arena.

“We want people to go out and discover the community,” said Stephanie Sexsmith, with the Lumby Chamber of Commerce.

During the showcase, the public can visit booths hosted by a number of businesses, including a new sports store and Keefer Lake Resort and the Gold Panner Campground, which have expanded their facilities.

There will also be an opportunity to try a hang gliding simulator while there will be an axe throwing booth.

Other activities include a petting zoo, complimentary RV roof inspections, free bike inspections, free fire extinguisher inspections and free food samples from local restaurants and producers.

On top of this, non-profit organizations will be present.

“You can find out about what they offer for programs and services, and how to volunteer in the community,” said Sexsmith.

Beyond the Lumby and District Showcase, there are other events happening in the village Saturday.

There is a pancake breakfast at the Old Age Pensioners hall from 7:30 to 10 a.m. and the Junk in the Trunk and Treasures community yard sale and vendors market. Maps for the yard sale are available at the OAP Hall and Super A Grocery.
