Artist invited to add some colour and creativity to Vernon residential parkade

An art form that is traditionally frowned upon, and in most cases even illegal, has been embraced by some Vernon residents.

Local artist Benny Hannya could recently be spotted tagging the walls of a parkade – something he was actually invited to do.

After seeing Hannya’s colourful spray paint art, several residents of Aberdeen Heights approached him to see if he could spruce up their underground parking area.

Given ample space, Hannya took up the request and incorporated some bold creativity to the once dull grey walls.

“They wanted something colourful and clean, something to change their everyday look,” said Hannya. “It’s better than grey I guess.”

Another resident of the building Ria Hakker, also helped spruce the building up in time for winter with some window paintings.
