Vernon resident Don Gallo was one ecstatic person when he heard he won the Vernon Shrine Club fishing boat raffle.
Gallo just retired and he’s always had the dream of owning a fishing boat.
“My name has always been listed in the dictionary as unlucky but now that name can be removed,” he said.
Gallo plans to spend time with his son Jeffrey on the lakes with his new boat.
The Shriners held the fundraiser to assist in the operation of a bus system which transports children and their parents to medical appointments in Vancouver.
“There is no charge for this service,” said Jake Terpstra, with the Vernon Shrine Club.
“The bus travels through Vernon three times a week. In addition, the Shriners treat children at their own hospitals for orthopedic and burn-related issues also without any qualifications or cost to the families.”
For more information about the bus service, contact Terpstra at 250-545-6594 or 1-800-661-5437.
