Lumby event helps society

The inaugural Prescription for Health, Walk Roll Run event Saturday benefits the Lumby & District Health Services Society

The inaugural Prescription for Health, Walk Roll Run 1km, 3km or 8km event is slated for this  Saturday to benefit the Lumby & District Health Services Society.

The three events include: a 1km walk/roll on the Lumby Oval, a 3km walk/run or 8km run on the scenic Salmon Trail. The event is for all ages and mobilities.

Information & registration is available at www.lumbyhealthcentre.org.

Registration will also be accepted on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. at the Lumby Community Hall. The 3km and 8km registration fee is $20 for 15 years and older. Under 15 is by donation. The 1km is ‘by donation’ for all ages.

This fundraiser benefits the Lumby and District Health Services Society to support community health programs and services that otherwise would not be available in a rural community.

“Lumby Scotiabank is going to match donated pledge money up to $5,000,” said Pat Pointer, chairperson of the fundraising committee. “This is possible through the Team Scotia Employee Volunteer Program.”

Members of the Scotia Team from Lumby will be volunteering their time on Saturday in support of this event.

“Bring the family, there is lots going on at Lumby Community Park,” said Pointer.

In addition to the Prescription for Health Walk Roll Run Event, The Lumby Market vendors will be open for business and the Lumby Museum will be selling ice cream.

“Hope everyone will come out and support this great community event,” said Pointer.
