Lumby hosts Christmas toy drive

The Lumby Fire Department will be at Super A Foods Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. collecting new toys and cash donations.

Lumby is looking to make Christmas a little merrier for some less fortunate children in the community.

The Lumby Fire Department will be stationed at Super A Foods Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. collecting new toys and cash donations.

“We turn them over to the Pythian Sister who look after it,” said Fire Chief Tony Clayton.

“The toys get distributed to Lumby and Cherryville.”

The department is hoping the community will once again help fill a fire truck for the cause, which has been an annual tradition for many years.

“I’ve been on the department 24 years and this is my 24th year doing it,” said Clayton of the toy drive which was started even before his time.
