If you are looking to get into the holiday spirit, Lumby is the place to be today.
Christmas Light-up festivities get underway at 4 p.m. at Arbor Park.
“We are looking forward to seeing everyone from the community come out for some fun,” said Stephanie Sexsmith, with the Lumby Chamber of Commerce.
Light-Up is an annual tradition that is extremely popular with residents from the village, as well as the surrounding rural area and Cherryville.
The Arbor Park event will include Christmas caroling, wagon rides, hot dogs and hot chocolate.
And because his reindeer are resting for their big trip Dec. 24, Santa Claus will arrive in Lumby on a fire truck thanks to volunteers with the Lumby Fire Department.
Children are urged to bring their letters to the old elf.
“This will be a great chance to visit with Santa,” said Sexsmith.
At 5:15 p.m., festivities will shift over to the salmon trail for a candlelight parade.
There will then be a figure skating show at Pat Duke Arena at 5:30 p.m.
“Everyone is then invited to participate in free skating at the arena from 5:45 to 7 p.m. with donations being collected for the local food bank,” said Sexsmith.
