A Vernon company is inviting the community to celebrate a milestone achievement.
On Saturday, Kal Tire will host 60th anniversary celebrations at the Anderson Way store.
“Supporting communities where our team members live, work and play is part of our culture,” said president Robert Foord.
“We are grateful to many and this milestone gives us the opportunity to thank our customers, our communities and our team members for their loyalty and dedication for the past 60 years.”
The Anderson Way event from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday will include a garage sale to raise funds for charity.
On June 12, 1953, Tom Foord opened the first Kal Tire store in Vernon.
The company is now Canada’s largest independent tire dealer and North America’s largest commercial tire dealer.
It has 240 stores across Canada, a mining tire division operating in 19 countries and it employs more than 5,300 people.
“The success of Kal Tire is directly attributable to the hard work and dedication of its team members,” said Robert Foord, the youngest child of Tom Foord.
“They continue to embrace a culture that began from day one that is based on values and customer service.”
In celebration of its 60th anniversary, Kal Tire will help fund community resurfacing projects that use recycled tire products.
