Efforts have been made up and down the valley to map out fresh, local food.
Buy Local B.C. and the Okanagan Greens Society have introduced the second annual Buy Local! Buy Fresh! Okanagan Map.
The maps were introduced to the public at the Vernon Farmers Market recently.
“We chose to launch the new maps in Vernon,” said Buy Local B.C. founder Shayne Wright.
“It is one of the best markets you will find anywhere, and was named market of the year in B.C. last year.”
Vernon Farmers Market manager Ingrid Baron appreciates the continued quality of the maps, noting also that, “they are informative, colourful, and easy-to-read.”
After the popularity of last year’s first ever edition, this season more hard copy maps were printed, which now cover the Similkameen Valley and Osoyoos beginning with this new 2014 edition.
It includes more than 60 participants including 35 farms and about 20 local food businesses, events, and local attractions.
Free copies of the maps are being offered at most visitor centres and hotels, and at many participating businesses throughout the Okanagan Valley.
