Lake Country staff have presented an operational plan to inventory district greenhouse gas emissions and establish broad principles for reductions opportunities.
The inventory will help calculate carbon-offsets that may be needed to achieve carbon neutrality but does not commit the district to anything.
The emissions inventory will be reviewed annually to provide up-to-date information on the amount of carbon being emitted by the district.
In 2010, the district signed B.C.’s Climate Action Charter and promised to achieve operational carbon neutrality by 2012.
