Vernon’s Salvation Army put out the call for help and the Kalamalka Rotary Club answered.
Pastor Jean-Curtis Plante was able to find a replacement cube van for a great price and secure a no-interest loan for the purchase price of $30,000.
“If the van isn’t running, it causes a huge problem in the day-to-day operation of our thrift store and food bank,” he said.
When the Kalamalka Rotary Club heard of the Salvation Army’s challenges, it came forward with a donation to cover the cost of the van using funds it raised at the annual Dream Auction.
Plante says the Salvation Army is relieved to be back on the road picking up donations in the community for various programs.
