Sovereign Lake is getting ready for another season of cross-country skiing.

There will be a roller ski demonstration and barbecue Saturday at Stussi Sports from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

“We are celebrating cross-country skiing along with health and fitness for all ages,” said Glenn Bond, club and guest services manager with the Sovereign Lake Nordic Club.

“Cross-country skiing is great for families and is also perfect cross training for cyclists, triathletes, runners and general fitness enthusiasts.”

The barbecue will be a fundraiser for kids programs at the club and a roller ski demonstration will take place at 3 p.m.

Families will have an opportunity to sign up for programs together.

“Our fall programs have started and every Tuesday evening we hold a club night at Creekside Park,” said Scott Lemon, club general manager.

“We encourage everyone age eight-plus to sign up and join us for some fun games and dryland exercises as we get ready for the season. It is a lot of fun to have everyone from the oldest masters to the young Jackrabbit kids enjoying the evening together.”
