On Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, a British Columbia Food Drive was held throughout the province and 100 per cent of all food collected was donated to local food banks throughout B.C.

Labour provided by volunteer organizers and citizens was without financial compensation.

Volunteer organizers wish to thank all citizens who donated and assisted with the collection of food, sorting it at food banks and for cash donations.

We thank the many mayors and council members throughout British Columbia who supported and encouraged community involvement in the food drive.

We are pleased to report that in Coldstream and Vernon 166 local volunteers gave 2,800 hours of unselfish service to deliver 12,000 food bags and collect 2,807 bags of food, a total of 32,052 lbs of donated food from generous citizens.

Save On Foods and local schools contributed 2,331 pounds of the food and contributors gave monetary donations of $1,600.

All food and cash was delivered to the Vernon Food Bank.

We wish to inform the public that a total of 550,094 lbs of food (that's over half a million pounds) and $54,866 in cash was donated to food banks throughout B.C.

A total of 197,149 households received donation bags from 7,754 volunteers who gave 10,225 hours of service to help assist families.

Thanks to all citizens who helped to make the 2024 B.C. Food Drive a great success!
