The Killiney Beach Community Hall will be the home of a Sparks/Brownies/Girls Guide unit.

A Sparks/Brownies/Girls Guide unit is being set up in Killiney Beach on Westside Road.

The inaugural meeting will be held Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Killiney Beach Community Hall.

“There is not much in our community for children to do other than soccer Wednesday nights until Halloween,” said organizer Candace  Campbell, a former Girl Guide and Pathfiinder.

“So they end up having to drive to Vernon or Kelowna, both of which are 30-plus minutes away.

“The Girl Guides of Canada is such a wonderful organization. I loved being a part of both. I know I learned a lot of valuable information.”

Parents can sign their girls up at the online link, https://register.girlguides.ca/web/OnlineReg/Unit_Search/OnlineReg/UnitSearch.aspx.

Type Killiney into the location box.
