The members of Teen Junction will be enjoying more recreational activities this winter thanks to the $2,900 donation from the second annual RCMP golf tournament in September.
“The donation will be used for the Community Engagement Project which will provide youth the opportunity to get out into the community and do some activities they would not have a chance to experience otherwise,” said Debbie Schiller, executive director of the Junction Literacy Centre which runs the Teen Junction program.
“We are very grateful that the RCMP has chosen to give us this generous donation from the event.”
The money will be used for tickets for shows at the Performing Arts Centre, and for transportation to activities like snowshoeing and tubing at Silver Star Mountain.
There will also be activities at the centre, including renting movies.
“Helping the youth in our community is a good fit with the RCMP locally. This helps the kids have a better outlook on the community. We’re happy to support this program,” said Cst. Mike Caira, one of the golf tournament organizers.
