Oyama Fun Day takes place Sunday at the Oyama Community Hall.

It’s time for some old-fashioned, family fun in Oyama.

Oyama Fun Day is set for Sunday and a number of activities are planned.

“It’s a fun-packed family celebration,” said Deb Butler, with the Oyama Community Club.

“It’s good old-fashioned family fun and it’s a chance to come out and visit with your neighbours.”

Kicking off the day is a pancake breakfast at the Oyama Community Hall from 8 to 10 a.m.

That is followed by storytime at 9:30 a.m.

At 10:45 a.m., parade entries begin lining up at the Oyama General Store and the parade begins at 11 a.m. The route follows along Oyama Road to  Oyama Traditional School.

“It is Lake Country’s only parade,” said Butler.

In the afternoon, there is dog agility at noon and the the Lake Country Big Band performs at 12:30 p.m.

Old-fashioned field games are a tradition at Oyama Fun Day and at 1 p.m., children of all ages can participate in tug-of-war, the egg toss, sack races and ice cream eating.

There will also be historical displays, a bounce zone, the Firemens’  Burger Burn, the Bake Shoppe Tea, a farmers market and the Royal Canadian Legion open house.

For more information or to participate in the parade, activities or farmer’s market, or to volunteer, contact Deb Butler 250-548-3255 or debbutler@shaw.ca

“Come out and enjoy the day,” said Butler.
