Oyama hosts polar bear dip

Oyama fire hall and the Royal Canadian Legion are once again sponsoring a New Year’s Day polar bear dip

They may have to chop through some ice this year but members of the Oyama fire hall and the Royal Canadian Legion are once again sponsoring a New Year’s Day polar bear dip.

Last year, 30 brave souls made the plunge into the freezing water of Wood Lake and the previous year, they even had to cut away about two inches of ice from the lake.

Registrations and pledges for the polar bear dip can be made at the Oyama branch of the legion.

Proceeds from the event will go to the food bank or charity of the participant’s choice.
