Performing arts centre director retiring

Pamela Burns Resch insists the show will go on at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre

Pamela Burns Resch insists the show will go on at the Vernon Performing Arts Centre.

Burns Resch will retire this summer after seven years as the centre’s executive director.

“The centre is well positioned to thrive moving forward,” she said.

“The theatre is in a healthy financial position and our staff and volunteers are very capable in  their roles.”

Burns Resch appreciates the willingness of residents and businesses to support the theatre with their sponsorships and patronage.

“People call it the jewel in the crown in Vernon and I don’t disagree with that,” she said.

Sigrid Ann Thors, centre president, says Burns Resch has been a significant asset for the community theatre.

“She has brought stability and increased income for our performances coming in,” said Thors. “She has brought in a lot of festival performances.”

Recruitment for a new executive director has been launched.

“It will be a major challenge because we have to keep moving forward,” said Thors.

“We can’t let things stop or stagnate.”

The goal is to have a new executive director hired in place by mid-July.
