Project brings teams together

A regional sports data base has been developed in the North Okanagan

North Okanagan sports groups are taking a team approach.

A regional sports data base has been developed by the Ministry of Social Development, Community Futures and the North Okanagan Sports Society.

“This is the first important step in making the mission of our sports society a reality,” said Akbal Mund, society president.

Information will be organized and available from the region’s sporting groups, businesses centered on sport, not-for-profit agencies that enhance sport, facilities information and other data that will enhance the region’s ability to attract tournaments.

With the assistance of Community Futures, a position has been created to allow for the data collection project.

“Working closely with the sports society, Leah Crampton is in charge of collecting and organizing all the information,” said Norm Metcalf, of Community Futures.

“She has been contacting all the different sporting groups asking them to complete the survey questionnaire and is getting a positive response from the sporting community.”

From pickle ball and swimming to soccer, equestrian and everything in between, Crampton and the society look forward to hearing from all sporting groups.

Surveys are being distributed to sport organizations throughout the North Okanagan.
