North Okanagan communities are accessing provincial funds.
Vernon, Lumby, Coldstream, Armstrong, Enderby, Spallumcheen, the Regional District of North Okanagan and the Columbia-Shuswap Regional District will receive Strategic Community Investment Fund grants.
Funds come from the traffic fine revenue sharing program and small community and regional district grants.
“By re-investing money, funding from programs like SCIF and TFRS give communities the freedom to spend money on projects and priorities of their choosing,” said Eric Foster, Vernon-Monashee MLA.
“The province is committed to creating safe neighborhoods. One of the best ways to do that is give communities the resources to spend on programs like crime preventions and associated policing,” said Shuswap MLA George Abbott.
