Provincial organizations are coming to Vernon to deliver training for those involved with managing volunteers.

The March 14 session on risk management will be presented by the Administrators of Volunteer Resources B.C.

“Many organizations in Vernon rely on volunteers, including our own,” said Lynn Belsher, NexusBC Community Resource Centre executive director.

“Risk management becomes an important issue for organizations that depend on volunteers to provide services.”

During the lunch, Volunteer B.C. will present information about changes to the criminal records review process.

Participants will learn how the CRR differs from the RCMP criminal record check in order to help make informed decision about which process best suits the organizations’ needs.

In the afternoon, attendees will learn about the regional and provincial results of the non-profits survey conducted by Social Planning and the Research Council of B.C.

This includes current challenges, pressures and opportunities for non-profits. There is also a chance to connect with other organizations, share insights, stories and experiences.

The workshop cost is $30.  Lunch is included.

To register, go to www.nexusbc.ca or phone 250-545-0585.
