Public market sets up shop

The Downtown Vernon Winter Market will celebrate its grand opening Nov. 6 and 7.

A public market has returned to downtown Vernon.

The Downtown Vernon Winter Market is setting up shop at 2913 29th Ave. It will initially be open Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

“Twelve stalls with a variety of vendors, including crafters, artisans, holistic practitioners, food producers and growers will be open to the public,” said  Dale Jukes, organizer.

“There will be a small food court where shoppers can sit and enjoy fresh food from the market with a cup of tea or coffee compliments of the Okanagan Centre, while listening to the music of local musician buskers or CDs of local artist and popular cultural musicians.”

The market will celebrate its grand opening Nov. 6 and 7.

“What is being created here is an opportunity for Vernon to discover and experience its culturally creative roots,” said Jukes.

“We have so much rich talent right here and most of us don’t know where to find it.  Now it will be available to the community in a comfortable indoor setting all winter.”
