Scam prevention seminar for seniors and driving workshop for young drivers and parents offered

The City of Vernon RCMP Safe Communities Unit’s seniors/business program is offering two important seminars.

A free workshop called In The Driver’s Seat is for parents of teens and young drivers. It is slated for Feb. 28, at the Vernon Secondary School library from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

“We have room for the first 50 to register by phone at the community policing office at 250-550-7840,” Ed said Howard, with the unit.

Also, the City of Vernon Safe Communities Unit, with partners the City of Vernon, the local RCMP detachment, Better Business Bureau and the Schubert Centre, is offering a seniors-oriented frauds, cons and scams workshop March 22.

That session runs from 8 a.m. to noon at the Schubert Centre.
