Realtors raise funds for shelter

Royal LePage Armstrong office joins National Garage Sale for Shelter May 12

Royal LePage realtors in Armstrong and across Canada will turn their focus from showcasing houses to showcasing the garage.

On Saturday, May 12 Royal LePage Downtown Realty Armstrong and Royal LePage offices across Canada will be transformed into an oasis for bargain hunters as they join together to host the fourth annual National Garage Sale for Shelter in support of the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation.

The annual event brings local residents together with Royal LePage realtors to raise much needed funds and awareness to help break the circle of family violence. All funds raised at the garage sale will go to support the North Okanagan’s women’s shelter, the Transition House, and fund long-term solutions to end family violence.

Half of all women in Canada have experienced at least one incident of physical or sexual violence since the age of 16.

Since 2009, the annual garage sale has raised more than $850,000 across Canada.

Donations of gently used items can be brought to the office at #2A 3305 Smith Drive in Armstrong.

The event takes place May 12 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Clothing drop-off is already available at the Armstrong office.
