Silver Star Mountain Resort has shown its support for health care in the North Okanagan.
The resort has donated $13,000 to the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation’s Light A Bulb campaign. Funds were raised by selling $20 lift tickets for the resort’s opening weekend.
“We wanted to give back to the community in a significant way, with 100 per cent of proceeds going to the hospital foundation,” said Anne Haight, the resort’s sales and marketing director.
Light a Bulb is supporting the foundation’s Building a Tower of Care Campaign, Phase II. Through it, the foundation is raising $2.5 million to equip the sixth and seventh floors of the Polson Tower with 60 patient rooms and medical equipment.
“We appreciate the generosity of Silver Star and the great community support that was shown for this special event,” said Richard Finn, Light a Bulb co-chairperson.
Cooper’s Foods, Safeway (Vernon Square) and Save-On Foods also showed their community spirit by partnering as sales locations for the lift tickets.
Over the past two years, Silver Star Mountain Resort has donated $38,200 to Light a Bulb.
