Extreme Pita is bringing healthy lunches to local kids.
Most parents and educators would agree that a healthy school environment improves learning and success while enhancing social and emotional well-being – and the foundation of a healthy school environment begins in the lunchroom.
Extreme Pita provides a healthy meal option for school lunches that leaves students feeling full, energetic and ready to learn.
This year, the following schools have joined the program in Vernon: Kalamalka Secondary, Clarence Fulton Secondary, W. L. Seaton Secondary, Vernon Secondary, Lavington, Coldstream, Kidston, Harwood, Silver Star, Okanagan Landing, Ellison, West Vernon and Vernon Christian.
Extreme Pita’s school lunch program includes:
- A menu approved by a registered dietician.
- A selection of eight pitas that are the same portion size offered in an Extreme Pita restaurant.
- Four of eight pitas that meet the strict nutritional criteria for the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Health Check program.
- Full disclosure of the nutritional value and sodium levels for parents and principals.
