Schools ready to visit Japan

North Okanagan students set off for Japan

Some local students are preparing to explore Japan.

The North Okanagan-Shuswap School District board has given approval in principle to the annual trip to Inashiki, Japan from March 24 to April 1, 2012.

The trip had to be cancelled this year because of the earthquake. Students from Salmon Arm Secondary, A.L. Fortune, Eagle River, Pleasant Valley, Shuswap, Len Wood and Carlin are being invited to take part in the trip, which is being organized by teacher Pam Chudiak.

The trip includes a homestay with a Japanese family, tours of cultural importance such as Narita City, Edo Museum and Askusa.

They will also visit a Japanese high school and Tokyo.
