A special week has again been set aside to recognize a special Vernon demographic.
Vernon Seniors Week will run June 3 to 7.
“Seniors Week is recognized provincially and federally, but Vernon didn’t have any events for it,” said Marcy Kennedy, lifestyle consultant for Vernon’s Regency Parkwood Retirement Resort.
Kennedy enlisted the help of Diana Williamson, Kim Mcgarvey, and staff from the NexusBC Community Resource Centre in 2023, and started Vernon Seniors Week with a few events.
“We’re hoping to grow on it every year,” said Kennedy. “We want to bring in more people that want to provide low-cost, affordable opportunities for seniors to gather and to build community. That’s the whole point behind it.”
The second annual week of events will include trade shows, art classes, movie nights, lawn bowling, barbecues, corn-hole, dinner and dancing, and more.
