Programs that encourage seniors to be active in the community are receiving a financial boost.

Age-Friendly B.C., a provincial program, is providing grants to projects in Enderby, Armstrong and Vernon.

In Enderby, $19,500 is going towards a community garden.

“This funding is great news for seniors in our community who will benefit from improvements such as widened sidewalks, new benches, additional greenspace and greater access to information on programs and services,” said George Abbott, Shuswap MLA.

A total of $20,000 is going towards an age-friendly assessment and plan in Armstrong.

There will also be $12,000 for seniors computer group support in Vernon.
