It’s time for volunteers to hit the Shuswap River and clean it up.
The free Middle Shuswap River Clean-up Paddle Event is Oct. 15 near Lumby.
“It will be a day of exquisite autumn paddling while cleaning up trash along the riverbank,” said Charles Ruechel, with the Elements Adventure Company. “Enjoy the fall colours of yellow leaves and red salmon as we meander our way through this precious river corridor. Even if you’re a non-paddler, please come out and help us clean up around the Mabel Lake hall for a while and say hello.”
The event starts at 9 a.m. below Shuswap Falls by the Mabel Lake Community Hall and ends at Mabel Lake.
Participants can travel by canoe, kayak, SUP, or other human-powered craft.
Contact Ruechel to determine if your paddling ability is a good match for this section of river and to organize shuttles at the end of the day.
