Smile cookies look to put grin on Vernon society

Buying a holiday cookie decorated with a smile could help light up local faces.

Tim Hortons in Vernon is kicking off the holiday season with smiles and kindness with its first ever national Holiday Smile Cookie campaign from Nov. 13 to 19.

The campaign will see 100 per cent of proceeds donated to local charities and community groups across Canada, including Tim Hortons Foundation Camps.

Vernon-based Archway Society for Domestic Peace has been selected as the recipient of the fundraiser at the five Tim Hortons locations in Vernon.

Archway will received 50 per cent of proceeds from all smile cookies sold, while the remaining 50 per cent goes to Tim Hortons’ Foundation Camps.

The Tim Hortons Holiday Smile Cookie is a delicious, white chocolate chip sugar cookie that’s infused with red and green sprinkles and adorned with a hand-decorated smile.

Guests can visit their local Tim Hortons starting Monday, Nov. 13, and purchase a Holiday Smile Cookie for $1.50 and help give back to their community this holiday season.

Cookies are also available by pre-order with a minimum order of 12 cookies at three of the Vernon locations: 5205 25th Ave. (Okanagan Landing), 2501 58th Ave (Walmart) and 3510 27th St (next to Co-Op Gas).

Archway Society for Domestic Peace are leaders in empowering women, children and families to live with dignity and respect, free from domestic and sexual violence.

They provide a wide range of supportive services for survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Services include; safe shelter (transition house program), counselling, child and youth advocacy, outreach services, and collaborative community projects.

All services are free of charge and are made possible by volunteers, community partners, donations and corporate support and programs like the Tim Hortons Holiday Smile Cookie fundraiser.
