The B.C. SPCA has ways to bring children together with animals.

If you know a child who loves being around animals and wants to have fun with like-minded kids, sign them up for a B.C. SPCA Summer Camp.

The week-long camps immerse kids aged six to 12 in a range of fun, engaging activities that increase their understanding about companion, farm and wild animals and help them develop skills to make a difference for animals in their community.

“Spaces are filling quickly,” says Paula Neuman, humane education manager with the B.C. SPCA. “Some of our locations are already full, but we do still have some spots available in Vernon.”

The camps offer a variety of activities, including outdoor and indoor games, guest speakers, hand-on creative projects, making toys and treats for the animals, shelter tours and visits with specially selected and approved shelter animals.

“There is always something new for returning campers, but for those who have never attended, they can expect to have fun and make friends while learning about animals and how we can best care for and protect them,” says Neuman.
