Sponsors have evolved but the community can continue to access much-needed meeting space.
Davidson Lawyers and MNP Chartered Accountants are the new sponsors of the Community Corner at the People Place, along with The Morning Star, which has been involved since 2006.
“We have four meeting rooms and about 200 groups annually who use the rooms which range from the smallest board room size to the largest, which can hold up to 100 people,” said Elaine Collison, People Place manager.
Davidson Lawyers has a long-standing connection to the People Place.
“Our founder, Neil Davidson, was fundraising chairperson for construction of the People Place and the firm is excited to be able to co-sponsor the Community Corner,” said Jay Hack, managing partner.
MNP is active in the communities in which it has offices.
“Our Vernon office is pleased to support the People Place, a valuable resource for so many in our community and we look forward to a long relationship,” said Ken Friesen, MNP partner and Vernon manager.
Ian Jensen, Morning Star publisher, says there is a real need for meeting space for community organizations.
“The paper is happy to be continuing this relationship with the People Place and we welcome the new sponsorship of these two civic-minded companies,” he said.
