Spring cleaning time for Downtown Vernon Association

Downtown Vernon Association merchants rolled up their sleeves for the annual Spring Clean-Up and Sparkle Day.

Downtown Vernon is ready for spring.

Merchants rolled up their sleeves for the annual Spring Clean-Up and Sparkle Day Wednesday.

“It was developed to give businesses the opportunity to make their own contribution to the clean-up of downtown after the course of the winter and make the area more visually appealing for our customers.” said Earl Hansen, with the Downtown Vernon Association.

Activities included washing awnings, sweeping, scrubbing the front of buildings, cleaning windows, pulling weeds and planting flowers or getting their flower pots ready.

“We are very thankful for the assistance of the Fulton Secondary Global Ed students, who came out in full force to paint the benches located in downtown,” said Hansen.

“In honour of their participation, the DVA will make a donation to the Upper Room Mission on their behalf.”

City of Vernon crews were also out putting up hanging baskets downtown.
