Street sweepers hit Enderby roads

Street sweeping will start Monday and residents are asked to remove parked vehicles so spots aren’t missed

Enderby is embracing the arrival of spring.

Street sweeping will start Monday and  residents are asked to remove parked vehicles so spots aren’t missed.

“Please sweep sidewalks adjacent to your property to move small debris and sand into the roadway, where the street sweeper can vacuum it,” said Tate Bengston, chief administrative officer.

Bags of organic yard waste and prunings must be left at the curbside beginning at 7 a.m. April 15.

Leaves, grass, and garden refuse must be placed in clear bags with a 50-pound maximum per bag, and no loose materials.

Prunings should be no more than four-inches diameter and six-feet long, and they must be bundled with string or compostable twine.

“The prunings should have no roots or dirt and must be stacked separately from thorns and clear bags in bundles weighing no more than 50 pounds,” said Bengston.

“Materials which are not prepared properly will not be picked up.”

There is free yard and garden waste drop-off at regional district landfills until April 30.
