North Okanagan residents were among thousands of walkers and joggers that helped raise a record amount for Parkinson’s disease research and care.

The Parkinson SuperWalk, which took place in 15 B.C. communities, including Vernon’s Polson Park Saturday, generated $494,000.

“The amount raised was incredible,” said Diane Robinson, with Parkinson Society B.C.

“Everyone who took part in SuperWalk makes such a difference in the lives of people living with Parkinson’s disease in B.C. We are truly inspired.”

Proceeds from SuperWalk supports advocacy, education, support services, research and public awareness.
