A unique opportunity to connect with nature, in support of nature, is returning.
Allan Brooks Nature Centre (ABNC) introduces the Hike & Discover experience at SilverStar Mountain Resort on Aug. 10.
Under the expert guidance of Calista Foisy, acting coordinator of program education at ABNC, participants will embark on a journey through the subalpine ecosystem.
Foisy is dedicated to enhancing your connection to nature by illuminating the intricate habitats along the Attridge trail.
“I love to be able to share environmental knowledge with as many people as possible. Together we will embark on a beautiful scenic hike at the top of SilverStar, where we will learn about the flora and fauna,” said Foisy.
After a scenic gondola ride to the summit, take in the landscapes along the Attridge trail.
“I love living in the beautiful Okanagan. I am excited about our partnership with SilverStar Mountain Resort for this nature hike," said said Cheryl Hood, ABNC executive director. "It's an experience you definitely shouldn't miss!”
Proceeds go towards the ABNC, which fosters a connection between schools, the public, and nature through programming.
Tickets for Hike & Discover are $60 (which covers the gondola fee) and can be purchased at trellis.org/hike-dine-discover.
Since 1996, Allan Brooks Nature Centre has grown from a discontinued weather station into an interpretive centre with activity rooms, display space, indoor and outdoor classrooms, picnic and play areas, a pond, native plant gardens, viewpoint sitting areas, and a wheelchair friendly grasslands trail around the grounds.
