Talk highlights genetic crops

Genetically modified crops will be the focus of a discussion in Vernon Thursday.

Thierry Vrain will speak at an event hosted by the Sustainable Environment Network Society and the Food Action Society at the Schubert Centre at 7 p.m.

He is a former soil biologist and genetic scientist and worked for Agriculture Canada He now warns people about the potential dangers from GMOs.

“We encourage everyone, and particularly elected officials, to attend as the perspective on GE foods is often overshadowed or discounted by the proponents of GE technology and the Canadian government,” said Sigrid Ann Thors, SENS chairperson.
