It’s time to smile again.
Vernon’s Tim Hortons restaurants will sell Smile cookies from today until Sept. 23 as a fundraiser for Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
“This year, we are going to support equipment for the expanded cancer care centre,” said Dan Currie, who owns the local Tim Hortons with wife Jamie.
“We are hoping to sell lots of cookies.”
The cookies are $1 each, and all proceeds, plus matching funds from the Curries, will go to the cause.
About $25,000 was raised during 2011’s campaign.
“We hope to get close to $28,000 or $30,000 this year,” said Currie.
Officials with the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation believe the cookie extravaganza is a great community event.
“This is a sweet way for residents to rally behind the hospital and local health care needs,” said Sue Beaudry, director of development.
“We thank Dan and Jamie Currie and their staff for their ongoing commitment and support.”
Dan Currie is encouraging everyone to participate in the campaign.
“Our two kids were born there and the entire community has a reason to support the hospital,” he said.
