Rachael Ganson loves O’Keefe Ranch.
And, given the ranch’s long history in the township, the Spallumcheen councillor felt it was the perfect spot to celebrate a birthday.
The official birthday party for the township will be Sunday at Historic O’Keefe Ranch from noon to 4 p.m.
“I’m thrilled to be able to have the party at O’Keefe Ranch,” said Ganson, who has been organizing Spallumcheen’s 120th birthday events. “We hope people come out and discover what’s at the ranch and have a blast.”
Some of the activities will include a toonie corn roast, toy giveaways for the kids, birthday cake, toonie pony rides, O’Keefe mansion tours, tractor-pulled hayrides and a photo booth complete with old-time props for a take-home souvenir from the celebration.
But the highlight, said Ganson, will be an old-time farmers market.
“We will have at least 20 vendors showcasing Spallumcheen farmers,” said Ganson.
Admission to the party is free for Spallumcheen residents, who simply must show some form of ID proving they live in the township or else present the green ticket that was included in this year’s tax notice.
The birthday celebration is just one of many events being planned throughout the township for the duration of 2012 to help Spallumcheen celebrate its 120th birthday.
