Brown’s Socialhouse is hosting a toy and pyjama drive Dec. 4 and giving participating customers 50 per cent off their bill.

Brown’s Socialhouse is making the season merry and bright for less fortunate kids in our community.

The Village Green Centre restaurant is once again collecting toys and pyjamas for children Dec. 4. But customers are also getting treated for their generosity.

Those who bring in an unwrapped toy (worth $20 or more) or a new pair of pyjamas (sizes newborn to 16 years) during the drive will receive 50 per cent off their food bill.

“This our second year doing the toy drive and third year doing the PJ drive,” said Gerran Thorhaug, owner/operator.”

Last year we were able to collect 400 toys and 100 PJ’s; this year we expect a lot more.”

All of the toys go to Santas Anonymous.

On top of this drive, Brown’s is helping less fortunate kids get in the Christmas spirit at the 11th annual Gift House Dec. 10 at the People Place.

“We are also donating 100 ginger bread house kits for the gift house this year. Each family gets a ginger bread house kit to take home assemble with their family,” said Thorhaug.

Children low on cash but big on heart can purchase gifts for their parents, grandparents and important adults in their lives at the event thanks to community and business donations. The event runs from 9:30 to 3 p.m.

Donations are being accepted until Dec. 8 at Re/Max Vernon, VantageOne Credit Unions,  Illusions Hair & Body, Ladies World Health & Fitness, the People Place, Jazzercise Vernon Fitness Studio and We Care Home Health.
