United Way officials are praising the community for ongoing support.
While the 2011 fundraising campaign did not reach the $300,000 goal, the amount available to local social agencies increased over last year’s total.
“Thanks to a few individuals and some last-minute results, we actually have $166,251 to disburse to our community partners which is up three per cent,” said Linda Yule, executive director. “We are aware that 2011 has been a challenging year for many charities, we are thankful to our donors for choosing to support their United Way. We do our utmost to make lasting change that will move people from poverty to possibility and make our communities stronger.”
