A Vernon youth has been recognized.
Steven Anderson, an air cadet with the 223 Squadron, has received a most improved cadet award for his achievements on his second summer training course in Metchosin.
Anderson completed the basic drill and ceremonial course with 49 other cadets. They learned how to work together as a team and take a leadership role, as well as drill and ceremony skills.
“I originally thought this course was all about drill,” said Anderson, 15.
“But I had fun, and now I want to take the advanced-level course next year. I had to lead my team of eight through a task, where we had to move a small box about 10 meters, but we were not allowed within one-metre of the box. It took a lot of innovation and communication – I learned a lot about leadership.”
