A local police officer is swapping his four-wheeled cruiser for a two-wheel crusade this week.
Const. Nick Reimann of the B.C. Highway Patrol based in Vernon is geared up to for the Cops for Kids Ride, supporting local children.
Reimann joins the team in the 10-day cycle through south eastern B.C. starting Friday, Sept. 6 from Kelowna.
"I am happy to be part of this journey for my 11th year," said Reimann, of the event that is now in its 24th year. "This charity help kids in our communities and I've seen it first hand. Through the years, the demands grew exponentially and we need your help more than ever. Kids and their family face challenges every day and your support means a lot."
Reimann and the team are raising funds and awareness for local children facing illness, disability, or traumatic crisis.
"Together, we will be able to provide financial assistance for children when there's nowhere else to turn."
Reimann and the team will be landing in Vernon on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 3 p.m. at the Vernon detachment.
