Take some time to stop, smell some flowers and help out a local organization.

The 19th Annual People Place Garden Tour will be in full bloom Saturday, June 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This year’s garden tour will include music, a chance to take home some treasures and more.

All proceeds from the garden tour will benefit the People Place. Volunteers are needed as well.

“This year we have seven fabulous gardens to explore during this very popular self-guided tour,” said People Place Society spokesperson Melanie O’Hara-Hutchinson.

The gardens taking place are located around town, at places such as the Community Garden, North Okanagan Hospice House, Terra Nova Farm, Kalamalka Indigenous Garden and personal residences of Shelley Graham, Carolyn and Heath Fletcher and Inga and Gina Christians.

Tickets ($20) can be purchased at Blue Mountain Nursery (Armstrong), Briteland Farm and Garden, Nicholas Alexander Home and Garden, Swan Lake Market and Garden, The Flower Spot Garden Centre, and at People Place in #101 Administration and #107 Independent Living Vernon.

East Hill Eatery and The Roxy Cafe Re will offer 20 per cent off that day for ticket holders.

“The People Place is a non-profit society, and our building is home to 15 other non-profits,” said O’Hara-Hutchinson.

“We provide secure office space for non-profit, charitable agencies, the opportunity for agencies to network, and a central location for clients, all at rental rates far below the current rates offered in the commercial market.”

The Richmond Caring Centre is the only other facility in British Columbia that operates on the same premise as the People Place.
