For 75 years, Easter Seals Camps have helped more than 1.1 million children, adults and families with disabilities and medical conditions.
For the last four years, the Vernon Lions Club has been doing its part to help Easter Seals’ Camp Winfield in Lake Country with a golf tourney.
The fifth annual Vernon Lions Club fundraising golf tournament tees off Saturday, June 10, at the Spallumcheen Golf and Country Club, at 1 p.m.
It’s an 18-hole Texas Fun Scramble followed by dinner and prizes in the clubhouse.
The cost including golf, shared cart, dinner and prizes is $175 per person.
Registration deadline has been extended to Thursday, June 1.
The field will be capped at 112 golfers, but a minimum 100 golfers are required.
Entry as a foursome is preferred.
As part of the evening activities, there will be auctions – both silent and live. The Lions are looking for any contribution of items suitable for the auctions or golf prizes. Donors will be recognized at the dinner and on the Vernon Lions’ website.
Tournament sponsorships are still available between a minimum of $100 and $750 (those looking to become a sponsor are asked to contact tournament sponsor coordinator Eric Reckhard at ereckhard@msn.com or 250-308-2257).
“Thank you to all our players, sponsors, volunteers and those who donate prizes,” said golf event spokesperson Michele Materi-Baker. “Without the help of all of these people, we would not be able to provide this exciting opportunity to members of our community who sometimes never get the chance to experience outdoor life in a safe and controlled environment that we sometimes take for granted.”
Camp Winfield is fully inclusive and accessible, so any child or adult with a disability can attend and participate in any activity.
There are rope courses, big swings, talent show, swimming, campfires (if no campfire ban is in effect), arts and crafts, and more.
More than 35,000 campers have experienced the magic of the Camp Winfield summer camp.
